Ductless Mini-Splits

Ductless Mini-Split Installation

A ductless mini-split is a small heat pump system that heats and cools individual rooms without ductwork. It’s often the best answer for older homes with boilers and radiators, additions, finished basements, sunrooms, garages, and upstairs rooms that never stay comfortable.

When a Mini-Split Makes Sense

  • No ductwork: homes heated by boilers or radiators can get quiet, efficient cooling without opening walls
  • Problem rooms: a hot bedroom or cold addition the main system can’t reach
  • Additions and conversions: basements, attics, garages and sunrooms
  • Lower heating bills: modern cold-climate units heat efficiently well below freezing and can take load off an older boiler

What to Expect

We size each indoor unit to the room, find the best spot for the outdoor unit and line set, and handle the electrical work in-house since we’re also electricians. We install LG, Midea and Gree systems, among others. All equipment we sell comes with a 10-year factory parts warranty, with extended labor coverage included or available depending on the package.

Rebates

Qualifying mini-split heat pumps may be eligible for ComEd discounts. See our heat pump page for details. Customers in towns with their own electric utility, like Naperville or St. Charles, should check their city’s programs.

Where We Work

We serve Wheeling, Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Deerfield, Glenview, Palatine, Mount Prospect and the rest of the north and northwest suburbs from our Wheeling, Deerfield and Crystal Lake locations. See the full service area.

FAQ

Can a mini-split heat my whole house?

Some homes can be heated and cooled entirely with mini-splits, but most use them alongside an existing furnace or boiler. We’ll recommend what fits your house.

Are mini-splits loud?

No. The indoor units are very quiet, and the outdoor unit is typically quieter than a standard AC condenser.

Do mini-splits work in Chicago winters?

Cold-climate models are built for it and keep heating efficiently in very cold weather. On the coldest days, a backup heat source is still a good idea.
