What Counts as an Emergency
- No heat in cold weather
- No cooling in extreme heat, especially with elderly family members, infants or pets at home
- A boiler or water heater that’s leaking
- A burning smell or a system that keeps tripping the breaker
- A failed sump pump during heavy rain
If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 first.
Before You Call: Quick Checks
- Make sure the thermostat is set to heat or cool and has fresh batteries
- Check that the furnace switch is on and the breaker isn’t tripped
- Replace a clogged filter
- Make sure outdoor units aren’t blocked by snow or debris
