What We See in Glen Ellyn Homes
Glen Ellyn has many older homes, a lot of them heated by boilers and radiators. Adding central air or ductless cooling to these homes is common work for us. A few things come up often:
- Old venting and chimneys. When older gas appliances are replaced, the venting often needs updating too. We check it as part of every install.
- Boilers and radiators. Many homes here still heat with steam or hot-water boilers. We service and replace boilers and size them to the radiators, not to the old unit.
- No ductwork for cooling. Homes without ducts can still get quiet, efficient cooling with ductless mini-splits or heat pumps, without tearing open walls.

Replacement Costs in Glen Ellyn
Every house is different, but here are honest ranges: AC about $4,000–$8,000; heat pump about $6,000–$10,000 before rebates; furnace about $4,000–$10,000 depending on size, efficiency, brand and location. We install Trane, Carrier, Bosch, Midea, LG, Gree and Goodman, and all equipment comes with a 10-year factory parts warranty, with extended labor coverage included or available depending on the package. In our climate, paying extra for anything above about 17 SEER2 rarely pays back.
Rebates and Utilities in Glen Ellyn
Glen Ellyn homes get electricity from ComEd and natural gas from Nicor Gas. ComEd offers instant discounts on qualifying heat pumps, which is why heat pumps have become a realistic option here. See our heat pump page for current ComEd discount details. The federal 25C tax credit for heat pumps and furnaces ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025, so if someone is still quoting it to you, ask questions.
Maintenance
Our one-time tune-up is $150 and includes a real cleaning of your equipment. An inspection is $79. Maintenance plans start at $15/month and cover an AC visit before cooling season and a furnace visit before heating season.

Are there heat pump rebates in Glen Ellyn?
Yes. ComEd offers instant discounts on qualifying heat pumps, and after the discount a heat pump often costs about the same as a straight AC replacement.
